Our First Havanese
Tango holds a very special place in our hearts as our first Havanese and the dog who started our journey into this wonderful breed. This happy-go-lucky, spirited snuggle-bug captured our hearts from day one and showed us exactly why Havanese dogs make such exceptional companions.
We were incredibly lucky and grateful when Pam offered us such a superb boy. From the moment Tango arrived, we were quickly enamoured by his loving, cheeky behaviour and his spirited attitude to everything life threw his way. He taught us that Havanese dogs truly live up to their reputation as velcro dogs – his favourite thing in the world was simply to be with you, sleep on the bed beside you, and follow you around the house just being there, a constant shadow and companion.

Tango proved himself to be a natural showman, achieving remarkable success in the show ring with multiple group awards at all age levels. He genuinely loved strutting his stuff out there, and it showed in his confident, animated presentation. We were thrilled when he received very positive and encouraging comments from multiple international judges, confirming what we already knew – that Tango was something special.
Two Sides of a Perfect Coin
What made Tango truly remarkable was his ability to be the consummate professional in the show ring, then completely let his hair down and enjoy life to the full when he wasn't showing. You honestly wouldn't believe it was the same dog! This adaptability is such a wonderful trait in the Havanese breed – they can rise to the occasion when needed, then settle right back into being your devoted family companion.
Life's Simple Pleasures
All in all, Tango was just the perfect all-rounder. He had a passion for chasing seagulls and rabbits with boundless enthusiasm. Farm animals fascinated him endlessly, and he seemed to find it particularly entertaining to sneak up and give the neighbours' cows a surprise lick – much to everyone's amusement.
Happy Retirement
Now retired from showing, Tango is living his best life with Elsie, and we often have the joy of meeting him out and about on his walks around the neighbourhood. Seeing him happy and healthy in his retirement years brings us such satisfaction, knowing that this special boy who started our Havanese journey continues to spread joy wherever he goes.
Tango set the standard for everything we look for in our Havanese – intelligence, showmanship, adaptability, and above all, that irresistible Havanese personality that makes them such beloved family members. He'll always be remembered as the dog who showed us just how perfect this breed can be.
